Day 1 & 2: Guangzhou

It was here again our yearly company's trip! It was announced only beginning of Mar 2012 after much anxiety waiting. Although it has been the company pretty standard calender year retreat however most of us are still quite skeptical and worry each year if it is still entitle to..us!! ...this year..next year...next next year???.. does company perform well last year? any changes from the top (Sweden HQ)?

This year and obviously the answer was YES! Woohoo!!! now the next question.... Where will it be??? We will be going on 4 - 8 April 2012, fix many year on Good Friday! We had all thought and suggestion...Taiwan, Perth..etc..and ended silence when MD blurted out...South China. It was the same idea which he had since previous year..Of course 95% of us were rejecting the idea but still to no repel therefore we had lowest take up rate this year with only 16 pax (with spouse & Dan)..he was quite affirmed with his suggestion and there we went to South China this year ...

Anywhere...cheer up...it was a free trip...We should be open-minded to the suggestion, at least a place that we wont be attending on our own accord and since it is free...take it!! emm... China...here we come....
Bonus from the overall package...
1st Class Airline, stars stars Hotels, VVIP sumptuous meals..
emm more than half satisfaction...
wink wink :)

Group 1in SQ flying earlier on 4 April, 8.20pm with additional 1 night stay in Guangzhou.
We have Group 2 flying China Eastern the next morning..

Ok, here show our 1st night hotel in Guangzhou...Carat Hotel....Not too far from the airport and also not the super fantastic room but it has its uniqueness..An open concept "washing area", a door to 2 rooms-shower and toilet.
We have additional bed for Dan Dan hence the tiny room area was mostly covered by slumber land....for info, we slept only at 2.30am almost 3am and woke up 7am....look at us...no sign of tiredness...hahaha.it is always the case when come to travelling.......It same went to Dan, he was so excited that he refused to even zzz in the plane and high-pitch with action all the way from custom to the hotel....

We checked in at 2am and checked out at 7am, a hotel that stayed only for 5 hours. We proceed for hotel breakfast after checked-out. Look at all the above photos of Dan, it was only 7am-730am, no grouchy, no grumpy.... full gear ready for an exciting day ahead..

After breakfast, we supposed to go 上下九 (Shang-xia-jiu Pedestrian Shopping Street) Shan-xia-jiu literally means up-down nine. This is the second famous shopping street in Guangzhou smaller than Beijing Road. From this street you can find mostly clothes and shoes. Lots of shops and, lots of ladies items to shop however due to the very heavy rain, we have to cancel and divert to shopping mall instead:( Below is the Wanda Plaza, heard it is one of the biggest shopping mall at  GZ..but because it was a work week day and early in the morning, we were a few handful spirit walking around the mall only...hehee

First encounter - Grill  in the taxi. Only ladies and children are allowed to be seated in the front...In fact their public safety in improving very much as compare to last time. The safety enforcement plan has been taken in place effectively. We used to hear lots of pick-pocket, armed robbery, snatch and run cases by motorists and so on... due to this, the government has banned motorcycles on the road...This was told by the tour-guide and we discovered there are really no motorcycles excepts cars & buses.... well done!!

Here we were at the Most Impressive Dim Sum Restaurant that I ever been.. From the exterior, it looks just like an ordinary restaurant however it is one of the bigger restaurant among all our meals over at China.

We walked pass all the above building and finally reached the building that we supposed to head to, took a lift up to 2nd floor, walked pass a few big big vip room with the room given a plant/flowers name to each individual room. Our Vip room was right at the last room of the 2nd floor which i think content with the biggest dining table.... A round table that fix up to 16 pax (just nice for whole bunch of us)

Here show our VVIP room...wow....impressive !! Everyone of us went "wow" at the moment of turning our head toward the table.... and with it grand title of course the food also the highlight of the whole event.....first ever nicer dim sum tasted!!

Toilet in our own VVIP room!

Our first group photo within the restaurant's compound

Here some historical attraction just behind the restaurant, we were guided to walk around. In fact it has some historical story behind however i had forgotten it all by now hehe ....too engross into photo-taking!!

After a short walk, we were back to the coach and continue our journey to the next station.....here officially started our tour of the day in the next post......
